This summer our Art of Radical Collaboration Program facilitated two Political Printmaking workshop series where artists collaborated to create designs in support of the transformation we want to see in the world. You will have the opportunity to see these designs and make your own shirt from one of them!

BRING your smooth, light colored t-shirts or other fabrics. We will also have a limited supply of shirts to print on, so don’t let supplies get in your way of coming!

This event also marks the end of an era for Hope Community as longtime artist and organizer Olivia Levins Holden will move on from their role at Hope. We will celebrate Olivia for what they have built at Hope over the last 10 years and what they are building as an independent community artist!

Food, Land, and Community outdoor programming is coming to a seasonal close in October.

The last regular garden night is on October 6th from 4-7pm.

The Fall Harvest Fest will be on October 20th from 4-7pm. We’ll be putting the gardens to bed and enjoy music, food, facepainting, and community!

Parks and Power hosts a workshop series in July and August to explore projects related to park naming, trails, pop-up parks, environmental initiatives, and other topics currently being reviewed by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss these projects, share their perspectives, and learn how the Racial Equity Toolkit can help shape park decisions.

How have organizers used print, posters, and visual strategies to make transformative change? Printmaking has long served as an accessible means for expressing dissent and visions of change!

In this series of workshops, we will discuss this context and some principles that make effective political poster designs, including what makes a strong image and narrative. Participants will work in pairs to develop collaborative messaging and design a poster using their choice of drawing, digital, scratchboard, and more. All designs will then be made into silk screens that participants will screen print in the final session.

Participants will self-select a collaborator at beginning of the workshop series. You can sign-up solo and we will facilitate making pairs or you can sign up with a friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc, and work together!

This series is ideal for artists and organizers, and anyone wanting to gain the skills of designing, strategizing, and utilizing posters for social justice efforts. We believe anyone can create and use political posters to impact their communities and efforts and are excited to share these skills together. 18+, all welcome regardless of artistic experience.

Each session builds on previous ones and is intended as a full course with participants attending all sessions.

Series is free, with dinner provided. Registration required, space is limited.

A night of program collaboration, come to garden or try sunprinting or both!

On Tuesday, June 30th the Food, Land and Community Team as well as the Arc of Radical Collaboration team will be leading activities in the garden by the Hope Parking lot (access by Oakland Ave S).

Event from 4-7pm at 611 E Franklin Ave. Enjoy any combination of eating dinner, cyanotype printmaking (sun-printing), and gardening. Free, and bring a friend!

These posters are a result of Hope Community’s “Pulling Together: Political Printmaking Series”, and “Political Graphic Design Workshops” by Dio Cramer, of Spill Paint Not Oil.

Open to the public, regardless of workshop participation. Great for artists, organizers, historians, and community members!

Tuesday May 19th we will be kicking off our garden season with a big planting day!

Come join us from 5-8pm at the youth garden (611 E Franklin Ave, the garden adjacent to the parking lot off of Oakland Ave used by Hope). In addition to all the seedlings we started in March, we will have food, music and fun!
