Pierce Hastings is a fierce advocate for liberation of all marginalized peoples. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to the Twin Cities to pursue an International Studies degree at Macalester College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a concentration in Human Rights and Humanitarianism. She got her start in electoral organizing in high school, then shifted her efforts to more grassroots, frontline, and nonhierarchical organizing in college. Her passion for park equity comes from the simple idea that parks are spaces to heal from many wounds, including the deep trauma inflicted by systemic oppression. She is excited by Parks and Power’s mission of not only expanding access to and protecting parks, but also making them a site of radical community care — a microcosm of the liberated future we are fighting towards.
