Children’s Village Center

The 30 affordable-unit Children’s Village Center was completed in 2002 and was the first phase of the South Quarter development project with Aeon. The first floor of the four-story Children’s Village Center is home to Hope’s offices and community center.

The Jourdain

2006 Portland Avenue South

The 41-unit Jourdain building is named after Winnie Jourdain, a civil rights pioneer in Minneapolis and a respected elder on the White Earth Reservation. The completion of the Jourdain in 2006 transformed a vital urban intersection into rental options ranging from small studios to three-bedroom units. There is neighborhood commercial space on the street level. The Jourdain is part of the South Quarter and is a partnership with Aeon.

The Wellstone

620 East Franklin Avenue

The 49-unit, mixed-income, the Wellstone building is a Minnesota Green Communities demonstration project, and features the largest residential solar thermal hot water system in the State. The Wellstone, part of the South Quarter, includes commercial/community space that houses Twin Cities Child Care Center.

The Rose

1928 Portland Avenue South

The 90 unit, mixed-income Rose building, was the final phase of the South Quarter with partner Aeon. The development’s design goes beyond typical sustainability standards with renewable energy systems and a large community garden. The Rose won the 2016 “Energy and Climate Award” from Environmental Initiative.

The Hope Block

Hope Block offers 46 units of affordable rental homes in 10 homes located near the intersection of Franklin and Portland Avenues. Our work to transform buildings and outdoor spaces on the Hope Block over a 10-year period became a model for community-centered development.
