In the mid-1990s, in the context of a devastated community surrounding the house where we were founded, Hope Community made a commitment to building a critical mass of quality housing and community spaces. We started rehabbing small buildings, and then grew by using innovative financial tools and long-term partnerships.

Now 750 people live in 263 mixed-income rental apartments (70% affordable) that are changing the face of the neighborhood. With our partner, Aeon, we co-developed the ground-breaking South Quarter with four-story buildings on all four corners of a major Minneapolis intersection. Hope developed and maintains another 50 units of affordable rental housing in smaller buildings. Four townhomes are part of the City of Lakes Community Land Trust, offering affordable home ownership to residents, and we continue to pursue new home ownership opportunities.

Hope Community is building housing to last. These long-term, quality homes will serve the community well into the future.
